I wonder what is an equivalent command in Linux/UNIX to the QNX 'on'
command?

Check out "rsh".

Hi John...

Thanks for your help.

I found that the command 'screen -d -m filename' behaves very similarly
to 'on -t -c ... file name' and will therefore work from rc.d very well.
