Post subject: Motherboard LAN drivers (again)  PostPosted: Sep 29, 2006 - 09:17 PM

Anyone know if QNX4 supports any of the following motherboard LAN drivers:

1) ASUS K8N-E motherboard, NVIDIA nForce3 250 chipset built-in 10/100 LAN.
2) ASUS K8V-X motherboard, Marvell 88E 8001 GB LAN

Didn't see them on the HW list but that doesn't always mean they aren't
around (or does it)

Thanks.

Hello,

There are no drivers for this NICs. Why don't you use any add-on PCI NIC,
RTL8139-based for example?

Regards,
Igor.

Hope you don't mind the commercial plug, but if you want the added bandwidth
of a Gigabit Ethernet adapter, you might consider our new Gigabit adapter
for QNX 4, being released this week.

We do, but we need 3+ networks and this saves PCI slots. Thanks.

In this situation you could search for dual port NICs (two network interfaces on
the same PCI board), for example:

PILA 8472B INTEL Dual Port Server Adapter NIC (chip 82558)

It works with QNX 4 and QNX 6. I checked it in due time.

Regards,
Igor.

By the way, is B&E Tech planning PCI-E adapters development/production? What's
about dual port network cards? It could be a good choice for QNX users indeed.

Regards,
Igor.

Thanks for the questions. We are always open to suggestions for new
products that are needed by QNX users. Unfortunately it turns out that in
real life you can't do everything you would like to.

That's the long way of saying we do not currently have any plans for
PCI-Express or dual port adapters. However, given sufficient interest that
can easily change.

Regards,

Marvell network chip is getting more and more popular in the x86 motherboard market. Besides, press released that Marvel will acuire Intel network department. I think QNX should start getting closer with Marvell for NIC support
