I installed QNX on a generic Athlon-based HP PC. The installation looks
OK, but I immediately get a crash on boot:
Shutdown[0,0] S/C/F=10/2/6 C/D=f00151f9/f005d6e4 state(c0)= now lock
[0]PID-TID=1-5? P/T FL=00019001/04020000 "proc/boot/procnto-instr"
[0]ASPACE PID=77843 PF=00022010 "sbin/io-net"
x86 context[efff8808]:
0000: effaf00c f0058430 effb1f3c efff8828 effaf008 f0010df6
I'm assuming it's an incompatible hardware problem -- are there any clues
in this crash dump (hopefully transcribed correctly)?
Thanks,
-Joe |

I should add that when I try "Run from CD", I get the following message:
No valid commercial license found
Only non-commercial use of this software is permitted.
Contact QNX Software Systems to acquire a development license.
Well I do have a license, but the process hangs at this point and never comes back. |

I never posted the final resolution to my problem. It turns out that one of the PCI ethernet cards in my machine was causing the fault, so I took it took it out. Things seem to be working fine now.
Thanks,
-Joe
For the curious, the offending card was:
a 3Com 3C905B-TX Fast Etherlink XL PCI that can do PXE boot. It's an old-ish PCI Ethernet card -- the ROM has a 1998 date on it. |
