Post subject: Disk On Module boot failure  PostPosted: Jul 30, 2007 - 09:25 AM

Hello
I have problems booting from a 31 MB DiskOnModule with QNX 4.25

The DoM works ok as primary slave, and can be mounted and written
with no problem. As primary master, the boot loader fails with the
ominous message "Missing Operating System".

I think that the problem resides with the disk geometry: the BIOS
reports 500 cylinders, 8 heads, 16 sectors, while fdisk sees the
DoM as a 126 cylinders device.

I have found some reference to using spatch to force the BIOS
geometry in the boot loader, but details are missing.
Can somebody help me?

Thanks
Manuele

Try set in BIOS geometry, that report fdisk.

Hello,

Make yours DiskOnModule DOS-bootable firstly, and reinit it in QNX 4 then.

I described this trick already, you can check "Re: Problems installing V6.3 on
Compact Flash" thread in comp.os.qnx newsgroup for more detailed description,

Regards,
Igor.
