Builds of Firefox 2.0, Thunderbird and Sunbird can be found at Crank Software, click on the "Downloads" link. These builds are for X86 only, others will be available soon.
Check back for updates as I will be posting other ports and hope to get Firefox 3.0 running in the near future.
I am trying to get the static one working which will startup a lot faster. It has been a while since I did the original port so I have to get back into it a bit.
I don't think it has something to do with the dynamic versus static. When it happens there is no disk activity and no CPU usage, once in a while (1/10) it will start real fast. On another machine I have no such problem.
Don't think it's a DNS issue, there is only one thread running which is waiting on a signal, and once started I can go on any web site and it's real fast.
Plus another machine just beside it, which uses the same dhcp server goes at normal speed.
It is just a tarball that unpacks into a "firefox" directory. ONce you unpack it somewhere like /opt or something then cd into the firefox directory and run "./firefox".

That is fantastic, have to try it right away!
Very nice indeed.
No I just have to figure out why on one perticular machine it takes about 30 sec to start, while not consuming any CPU.

Will it support Java?

Maybe it's a DNS issue?

Why not attach with gdb when it's hung?
gdb told me it was indeed a dns issue. I had to setup _CS_RESOLVE, as it would use the entries in /etc/resolv.conf.
I'm not sure what happened, maybe _CS_RESOLVE was already setup with a wrong string.
I hate to sounds really dumb, but how do you install Firefox?
It is just a tarball that unpacks into a "firefox" directory. ONce you unpack it somewhere like /opt or something then cd into the firefox directory and run "./firefox".
and then add the firefox directory to the path. Or add an option in the launch menu.
thanks looking forward to firefox 3!
