Attaching io-graphics to another server dynamically

Is there a way to send a message to io-graphics and have it switch photon
servers?

i.e. io-graphics is started pointing to /dev/photon, but then use mount or
someother utility to send a message to it to change
/net/othernode/dev/photon (including a region_x and region_y spec)?
