Hi...

I wonder if any one has experience with or know about a PC104 CAN-BUS
module vendor with drivers for QNX? Thanks.

Regards...

Miguel.

Hi Miguel,

we offer different PC/104 CAN bus and CANopen boards together with QNX
4.25 or QNX Neutrino 6.2 / 6.3 support (driver, C-API, C-Talk API,
Python API, PVM API, SoftPLCs e.g. DACHSview, etc.)
You will find some info at http://www.dachs.net/can.htm

Additional to our QNX-based standard CAN products we are able to adapt
our software to other CAN boards or to deliver customized OEM solutions
[with sources on request] for all CAN controllers like i82527 (Intel),
SJA1000 (Phillips), MSCAN (Motorola) e.g. on the MPC5200
http://www.dachs.info/DACHS-MSCAN_MPC52 ... _flyer.pdf , SAE 81C90
(Siemens) and others as well as CAN protocolls like CANopen etc.

For further info or pricelists you can call +49 6431 529366 or send an
email to info@steinhoff-automation.com

Best regards,
Jutta

Yes ... we have experiences with dumb and intelligent PC104 CAN bus modules.

The performance of the so called 'intelligent' PC104 CAN bus modules are
in general slow because of the on-board co-processor (20MHz CPU, the
time e.g. for notification of incomming frames is high)
'Intelligent' PC104 CAN bus modules are expensive ...

So called 'dumb PC104 CAN bus modules' are handled directly by the PC
processor with a CPU clock of e.g. 400MHz to 3 GHz ... because of the
power of the PC processor, the resource manager can handle the CAN
controller at its maximum speed.

There is no daisy-chaining of interrupts like
'CAN controller -> co-processor -> PC processor -> resource manager'
when the reception of a frame must be notified. The interrupt load is
not critical because of the small amount of CAN data of the CAN frames.

If the used CAN controller is the SJA1000 the user interface has more or
less the same structure.
